EV Federal Rebate Program

EV FEDERAL

REBATE PROGRAM

And What That Means To You

There's no better time to get into a new Electric Vehicle (EV), and we don't just say that because we love the new electric lineup, but because the deals will never be this good again and the benefits of switching to electric have never been higher.

Electric vehicle technology has come an incredibly long way in a remarkably short amount of time. With the high cost of fuel, ongoing environmental pressure and a push to improve the landscape of the Canadian automotive industry - the federal government has put out HUGE rebates for most electric vehicles. These rebates won't last long however, and they'll likely never be this good again.

Federal Government Electric Vehicle Incentive

(according to transport Canada)

2026: up to $5,000 for (EV)

2027: rebate reduced to up to $4,000 (EV)

2028: rebate reduced to up to $3,000 (EV)

2030: rebate reduced to up to $2,000 (EV)

The simple fact is the Federal EV Rebate program is planned to stop all together in 2031 with heavy reductions over the next four years, meaning every year leaves more money out of your pocket on your EV purchase. Taking advantage of this opportunity today amplifies the savings effects of making the switch to electric - think of it as an extra $5000 for that family vacation or maybe that new kitchen you've been wanting.

As of today - March 20th 2026, the requirements of the program according to transport Canada are; The Vehicle must have a final transaction value less than $50,000CAD, bought or leased on or after February 16 2026, a 48 month lease will receive the full rebate while shorter leases will be prorated.

Models that are typically eligible in our lineup include the Chevrolet Equinox EV (base model only) and Chevrolet Bolt

Cost Frame Of Reference: The estimated cost of fully charging a 2027 Chevrolet Bolt at home is roughly $6.50-$8.00 CAD and $15.00 to $30.00 in public at a fast charger. The range is typically estimated between 410-422km on a full charge. If we take a high average public charging cost of $23, and base our range off the lower 410 - you would be able to drive from our dealership to Banff to see the Rocky Mountains for ~$188.50. With the current rebate of $5,000 that would be the equivalent of roughly thirteen round trips to and from the mountains on the other side of the country or 87,360km.

87,360km worth that you're keeping directly in your pocket today - and - to take that a step further, the average driver puts on 16,000 to 20,000km per year on their car according to manifold data mining. By taking advantage of the full $5,000 rebate on a 2027 chevy bolt  you're able to save the equivalent of your electric costs entirely over the course of your four year lease or finance period. Reducing the impacts of owning a new vehicle and reimagining new possibilities on the open road.

Additional Impacts

One thing we can speculate, is the rising cost of computers, RAM and technology as a whole will have an effect on the automotive industry in the near future. As AI continues to grow, develop and expand, we've seen continued demand for the fine computers and technology pieces - directly increasing prices to the consumer. Computers, memory cards, data storage devices have all seen a major increase in price as of 2026. Between October and December of 2025 we saw a hike of over 100% on consumer cost of many digital storage devices. With the automotive industry not yet affected, it's merely speculation as to whether or not prices will continue to stay similar to where they are in years to come.

With the added pressure of technological price increases and the steady reduction of the federal rebate program, if you're interested in an EV, now is the time to get behind the wheel while you're guaranteed to keep the most amount of money in your pocket.
